Touring Bikes (multiple day rental)

Our touring bikes from Velo de Ville are well suited to long-distance tours, such as the popular Oslo to Bergen route across some of Europe's greatest wilderness. With a comfortable riding position, suspension seats and ergonomic handlebars, these bikes are sure to keep you riding kilometer after kilometer. All touring bikes have 24 gears and are available in sizes S, M or L (approximately 48cm, 52cm, 56cm size frames). While some of the touring bikes have hydraulic disk brakes, most have standard V-brakes due to the ease of repairing them on long tours, if needed. These touring bikes can be rented for as many as ten days, with a minimum of a five day rental. If you only plan to rent for a shorter period of time, a five day rental fee is still required. PRICE 5 day minimum fee NOK 1500. Each additional day costs NOK 300. Price includes the 25% value added tax, pump, repair kit, helmet and lock. It is possible to add-on pannier bike bags for a one-time fee of NOK 250; just choose the add-on at the end of the booking process.   FITNESS LEVEL Norway is one of the most mountaineous countries in Europe and there are very few parts of the country which are flat. Be ready for hills, even right along the coast.   AVAILABILITY 28 May 2021 - 31 October 2021: every day, seven days per week. Bikes should be picked up between 10:00-11:00 and the return time can be agreed upon when picking up the bike. Advanced booking is required. Please note that most mountain areas are only suitable for biking until the middle of September due to cold temperatures, icy roads and possible snow.   ADDITIONAL INFORMATION If you need any ideas for long-distance routes to bike in Norway, just get in touch (info@vikingbiking.com) and we can give you some recommendations. Biking in Norway can be challenging, with unpredictable weather, lots of elevation change and long distances between towns. But the reward is some of the best scenery in the world!

Private Nature Walks: Arts & Parks

Get the best of both worlds on one 3.5 hour tour: experience some of Oslo's world famous art while enjoying the amazing nature and scenery for which Norway is famous. This tour combines fjord views and beautiful forests with art and history, all while discovering a part of the city overlooked by many tourists. The tour begins with a charming tram ride up the hill to the starting point of the walk (tram ticket not included, please see the price category below for more details). The highlight of the tour is the amazing Ekeberg sculpture park, which blends stunning nature with one of the world's most original sculpture parks, focusing on the strength and role of women. Walking through the forest perched above the Oslo fjord, it is an unforgettable journey from one surprising sculpture to the next. Another great site which shouldn't be missed yet is rarely visited by the average tourist is the viewpoint from which Edvard Munch painted the Scream more than 100 years ago. Imagine standing where one of the world's most iconic paintings was first sketched. Along the way, we pass some amazing World War II history, one of Oslo's most beautiful art-deco restaurants with a coffee stop included, and the city's original old town Gamlebyen. Nature? This tour has it! Fjord views? Too many to count! World class art? Check! History? Thousands of years' worth! The walk is accessible to most participants but please note there is a steep descent towards the end of the tour which takes about 5 minutes going down. The tour begins with a tram ride taking the participants up to the starting point of the walk, so there is very little uphill walking. Price * 3500 kroner flat fee for 1-10 participants * Price includes a coffee/drink stop at the Ekeberg restaurant * Please note that this tour uses public transport trams, which is not included in the tour price. If you have the Oslo Pass or a public transport pass, then you are ready! If not, please make sure to add-on public transport tickets during the check-out process. Tickets range from 50-90 kroner depending on the age of the participants. Starting point and duration This private tour begins in front of the main train station, Oslo S, by the large lion statue. After a 15 minute tram ride to the Ekeberg hill, the walk is sbout 7-8 kilometers (4-5 miles) during approximately 3 hours (with many stops during the way). Accessibility The most challenging part of the tour is the final descent from the park restaurant back into the city centre: it is a steep downhill for about 5 minutes. It is not wheelchair accessible and best for children ages 8+.
