Bike Tour: Oslo Highlights (3 Hours)

Our most popular tour, departing daily at 14:00 (2pm). Discover all of the major sites in about 3 hours in a fun and relaxed manner as we bike car-free paths, parks, quiet back streets, and along the fjord. There is plenty of time for stops and pictures. The guides will not only reveal the history behind the monuments and buildings, but cover topics relating to Norwegian culture and politics as well as modern life in Oslo. ** Notice : Oslo Highlights is offered at 12:00 Noon (01 November 2019 - 14 March 2020). The riding is mostly flat except for a couple of short inclines and a 2 minute hill leading up to the Royal Palace. Total distance covered is about 12km (7 miles). Bike Rental: City Bikes

A bike rental is the perfect way to discover Oslo like a local, at your own pace. With a quality bike, optional helmet, lock and customized mapping service, you are able to see all of the different sides of Oslo: trendy neighborhoods, historic castles and palaces, world-class parks, stunning coastline and endless forest. You can pick the bike up anytime after 9:30 and return it before the Viking Biking shop closes at 18:00. We have a variety of bikes: children's; city bikes, touring hybrids; etc. The best choice of bikes is available in the morning, from when the shop opens at 9:30.   24 Hour + rentals available: Bikes need to be stored in a safe location overnight. Nearly all hotels in Oslo have secure storage for bikes. Nature Walks: Island Hopping in the Oslo Fjord

Discover the majestic Oslo fjord and its various islands like a local, hopping on and off ferries to hike the forests, sea cliffs, charming villages and historic sites of three islands (sometimes two, sometimes four depending on the season and ferry schedule). With a Viking Hiking guide, explore the fascinating ruins of a nearly 1000 year old abbey, picnic on a hidden beach and walk the flower-covered paths of a summer village full of brightly painted, traditional wooden cabins. Don't forget a swim suit and towel as there is time for a swim in the surprisingly warm waters of the Oslo fjord! The walking is mostly flat, but on a mix of stones, gravel paths and dirt roads. Participants should be able to walk for 30 minutes at a moderate pace and wear good walking shoes for the trails. Nature Walks: Forest to Fjord

Hike through Europe's largest urban forest, taking in a variety of sites from traditional wooden buildings, hilltop view points, pristine lakes and enough berries to last an entire holiday! The tour begins with a stunning metro ride up the hills, starting at sea level and ending nearly 500 meters above the city and fjord below. From there, the hiking begins, climbing steeply through the Oslo "marka", a dense forest with a couple of thousand kilometers of hiking paths. Dirt paths, rocky passages and deep forest await, as we make our way to the view point of Vettakollen, a "locals only" destination for one of the best views in all of Oslo. This stop is perfect for a panoramic lunch (bring your own or purchase along the way at a café in a local forest cabin). After lunch, continue through the forest until arriving at the shores of Sognsvann, one of Oslo's prettiest lakes and perfect for a swim. The tour ends at this lake, with easy access to a metro stop for return to the city center.
