Bike, Hike & Kayak the Norwegian Fjords
Exciting glacier walks, kayaking on beautiful fjords, spectacular hikes and a historic cycling tour are a few of the highlights on this week-long hiking, biking and kayaking tour in the Norwegian fjords. Want to spend a week to experience the Norwegian fjords like a Norwegian? Hiking, biking and kayaking is the ultimate way of doing it! With kayaks, mountain bikes and hiking boots, you will get to experience fjords and waterfalls in the land of the midnight sun. We gather up at Finse on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, the highest-altitude station on the famous railway between Oslo and Bergen, and end the tour at Flam in the famous Sognefjorden. Please read more about our level of difficulty here. We are active for 6-9 hours each day, but we have a comfortable pace and enjoy the nature as we go. You should expect rocky paths and a bit of scrambling. You need a little hiking and mountainbiking experience to do this trip, no kayaking experience is required. WHAT TO BRING? Have a look at the full equipment list by clicking "Equipment list" in the menu above. The weather changes fast in Norway, and you can experience snow even in the summer. There fore we ask you to follow the equipment list when packing. ACCOMMODATION We stay at the famous mountain lodge Finse1222 and a charming guesthouse in Flam/Aurland. The single supplement for the whole trip is 2500,- NOK. One night is spent in tents on the kayak trip. It is possible to rent sleeping bag and mat for the night in tents, this costs 600 NOK and includes a liner for the sleeping bag. BAGGAGE There is no weight limit, other then what your airline has imposed, but, as the group and luggage will all have to fit into our transportation, we do ask you not to bring more than one main item of baggage and one daysack. You will only have to carry your daysack on this trip. We will store the luggage you don't need for the kayaking trip for you. For the luggage transfer that you send with the train, we only include the cost for one piece of luggage. INSURANCE You need a travel and health insurance, that also includes transportation back to your country. Remember to bring your insurance card/information. LANGUAGES The guide speaks English. We always use carefully selected authentic accommodation when sleeping indoors (twin rooms as described in the program). Breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner for all days (see day to day program). All local transport. Rent of bike, bike helmet, glacier equipment, and kayaks. NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: Transportation to the meeting point at Finse and from Flam. We are happy to assist and book train tickets and give advice on travel itineraries. The trip ends in Flam. Drinks and snacks. Rent of sleeping bag and mat Surrounded by mountainous wilderness and national parks we will hike on the glaciers of Hardangerjøkulen, and cycle the famous Navvies' Road (Rallarvegen). Through world-class natural scenery, we will cycle a 1,700-metre descent down from the mountain to Flam by the Sognefjord. Then a different view and experience await us, as we kayak on the clear water of the fjords. We go from one beautiful place to the next, passing substantial, impressive waterfalls, isolated villages and wild nature. The narrow Nærøyfjord is a branch of the massive Sognefjord, and this is where we go on an overnight kayak tour. The fjord is on UNESCO's world heritage list. The 18-kilometre-long (11 miles) fjord is up to 500 meters (1,600 ft.) deep in some parts and only 250 meters (820ft.) wide at the narrowest. Widely famous for being one of the world's most beautiful and dramatic fjords. Last but not least; With a truly magnificent view of the fjords, you get to experience real western Norwegian landscape by foot as we hike the mountain Prest. See the beautiful fjords from above, the breath-taking landscape will marvel you. The first two nights we stay in a comfortable mountain hotel, one night in a guesthouse by the fjord, then we go deeper into nature and sleep in cozy tents so that we can get connect with the Norwegian landscape, and then back to the guesthouse for our last dinner together.
